Meet Jennie Pasquarella

"I had twin boys in September 2013. Having newborns is hard enough, but twins require even more care—it's a lot of work raising two children simultaneously! I had to take time off work in order to care for them, and Paid Family Leave was critical to me and my family. Without these benefits, I would have had to hire extra child care, which is very expensive. Even as a working professional, I just wouldn't have been able to afford it. I consider myself extremely lucky that we have this program in California, but it's a shame that we don't provide paid family leave everywhere across the country. It's especially important as a working woman to have these benefits, because without it, we have to make the difficult decision of either giving up our jobs, or leaving our very young children in the care of others. It's an incredibly difficult decision to make that impacts our families, our communities, and our workplaces."
